Sometimes space can seem a little limited even in the largest of caravans, so the addition of a caravan awning can add an extra degree of comfort, allowing more space, shelter from the sun, or in the case of inclement weather shelter from the wind and rain. There are caravan awnings of all shapes sizes and colours, and manufacturers produce a range of awnings made specifically for the various makes of caravan and motorhome.From the small porch awning or annex to the full caravan awning,
which offers the ultimate in living space, accommodation and privacy.

The caravan porch awning is the perfect solution for the smaller campervan or the short weekend getaway, whilst the full awning offers the additional space for the longer holiday break, and both are an invaluable addition to any caravanner’s holiday. There is no doubt that whilst caravan awnings vary in price considerably depending on the make, size and quality the additional living space will improve the whole caravanning experience enormously.

Modern caravan awnings are generally made from a polyester or acrylic material which offers excellent strength, is extremely durable and can stand a lot of wear and tear, ensuring a long lifetime, providing it is properly cared for. After investing good money for the purchase of caravan awning taking care of it is a priority, so ensure that the manufacturers instructions are adhered to and it will last for many years.

The most important thing is to make sure it is always clean and dry before storage, the last thing you want is for it to be damp or covered in mildew when you need it most. Do not be tempted to use abrasives, liquids or houshold detergents that would break down the weather proofing of the awning. Use just warm water and a soft cloth or brush.

After several years of service you will need to reproof the awning. There are plenty of good products on the market for you to do it yourself. The best and easiest way to do this is while it is fully erected. This will extend the life of the awning and ensure you remain dry for many years to com
